Japanese natioal dish
I read Japanese News about Cup noodles which are the 50 university this month.
Cup noodles are the first instant needle in the world, and I think it can be called kind of the national dish in Japan. After the second world war, Japanese economy had devastated, so Japanese worked hard to recover from that. Cup noodles were exported to the US, and it became popular. The news reported that currently people have been health conscious, so they also started selling healthy products such as low calories, high protein, high fibres, and low sugar. There are more than 200 flavours in the history. Although Japanese are richer than before and Cup noodles are cheap and easy food, they are our favourite food. Besides, they are useful since they can be eaten in outside and in the emergent situation including disasters.
The food I miss most may be Cup noodles. In Australia, I can get them in Chinese grocery shops, but these are not from Japan. Only some shops have them; however, the price are very expensive compared to the original price in Japan, normally 5 times expensive. So, I cannot afford them. I remember that when I went back to Japan, I ate Cup noodles as the first food in Japan even though there are so many diecious foods. It sounds very funny.
I have so many foods I miss now, but if I choose two foods it would be soba, and salmon roe.
Soba is a Japanese traditional noodle made from buckwheat, and some restaurants make handmade noodle themselves. It is said that good water is important to make good soba, so it is not easy to produce but also difficult to get good ingredients for it. I cannot eat handmade soba noodle in Australia.
Salmon roe is not a traditional Japanese food, but it is common food in only my hometown, Hokkaido in autumn. The way how to eat is pickled in soy source with rice. In Hokkaido, we have own recipes in each home, thus it is slightly different taste. By the way, I heard that salmon roe is common in Russian as well, but they eat it with pancakes. I cannot imagine that.
I would like to write more about Japanese food in the future.
English is my second language, so you may find incorrect sentences.
It would be great help if you leave a comment for me.
Thank you for reading!
