My resolution
Yesterday, I drank wine even though I wanted to reduce the amount of alcohol. I recently feel that drinking is wasting my money and time. After drinking, always, I get too much relaxed and go to bed late. Besides, my sleep is not as deep as usual, so I feel very sleepy in the morning and cannot wake up at the same time as usual. I am concerned about my health when I drink because I feel too tired to do anything.
Then, I have decided to drink moderately only on weekends. But my husband finished his work early to get home yesterday. I cannot study while he stays at home, so I have nothing special to do, and I drank with him.
Recently, I have listened to an audiobook called "Atomic Habits", which is written by James Clear. The book indicated the powers of human habits and how to change them. I liked the book and knew that there is his website that explains the details of it.
I went to the website, and he suggested 3 ways to break bad habits. Firstly, we need to interchange them with good ones. He said that just an elimination of bad habits is difficult due to reasons that lead to repeating them, which are often caused by stress and boredom. Second, we need to move away from the environment that triggers old habits. It sounds impossible, but we can reduce exposure to the cue that causes it. For example, if someone plays video games too much, put games in a closet to make it hard to get them.Finally, it is necessary to make Bright -line rules which refers to a clearly defined rule. For example, if someone want to check email less frequently, he or she needs to decide how often is "less frequently", when check it, which device to check and so on.
I think some tip can be used and I transformed the rules into mine.
As the first tip, I can try replacing drinking alcohol to sparking water because it makes me satisfy without harmful ingredients including sugar, although I am not sure that will work.
Second tip omitting the trigger is simply not to buy and stock it at home. I think this tip may work well.
The third rule can be drinking only on my birthday and new year. I know that I cannot quite drinking if I said I'll drink moderately only on weekend because reducing alcohol is harder than quieting in my experience.
I'll start the resolutions after drinking a box of all wine I bought last week!
