Climate Tech

Listen to the most recent episode of my podcast:  Climate tech

Yesterday, I read an article regarding climate tech. The title of the article was "climate tech's Netscape moment".

To be honest, I did not understand meaning of the title, so I looked for each word of meaning.

Climate tech defines as the technology companies that reduce global greenhouse gas emissions, which include batteries, hydrogen, smart grids, and carbon capture.

Netscape moment is that a time when a huge amount of money goes into some specific sectors.

The article meant that a lot of investment is going to climate tech sectors, so such tech companies are booming.

The article also mentioned that similar trends   happened 10 years ago, but they did not really help the world's climate at that time. Now the US government announced investment in climate tech and more funds may come if Joe Biden's proposals win. Moreover, the EU government also teamed up with climate-related companies on a $1bn initiative.

I think this movement is quite welcoming for the future. The global climate has been changing dangerously and it is essential to take actions for stopping it.

I think investing in tech companies is effective for the economy as well. More companies will hire more employees and more money will be used in the development of technologies. Sometimes it is difficult for economic activities and climate change to coexist, because when economies expand, often CO2 emissions increase. Therefore, "climate tech's Netscape moment" is a preferable trend and should be encouraged.

I am just a little bit worried about the future of climate tech, as the article mentioned that they failed to flourish 10 years ago. Yet, the good things are that most developed countries proposed their goals to reduce carbon emissions, although they are much behind. Therefore, this trend seems like it will last longer than 10 years ago. To achieve the goals, governments have to promote such companies.

English is my second language, so you may find incorrect sentences.

It would be great help if you leave a comment for me.

Thank you for reading!
